#45. Getting Out Of Prison

prison_releaseOver 10% of the Black Community is in prison (five times the rate it was 20 years ago). So when an incarcerated Black Person is released from prison, it’s like Thanksgiving, Christmas and winning the lottery all rolled into one.

After the O.J. Trial (he did it, by the way) Black People were convinced that they could finally beat the system. Not only did that turn out to be 100% not true, but O.J.’s acquittal systematically insured that Black People will always be harshly sentenced with long prison terms in America just to make up for it.

Of course, anyone being released from prison would dig getting out, but Black People experience prison releases in a far more unique fashion: it allows them the opportunity to figure out how to get back in.
